Not all installs are created equal — and the CLIPA Estimating App is built to reflect that. Whether you’re decorating a single-story home or a commercial building with complex rooflines, difficulty levels allow you to price jobs accurately based on the true effort involved.
🧩 What Are Difficulty Levels?
Each estimating section in the app allows you to assign footage or strand count to a specific difficulty level — from Level 1 (easy) to Level 4 (most difficult).
For example, when estimating a roofline install on a house:
Difficulty 1 = First-story rooflines, garages, or low, flat rooftops that are easy to access
Difficulty 2 = Second-story installs or areas that require ladders or added care
Difficulty 3 = Steep pitches, tight spaces, or specialty installs
Difficulty 4 = Commercial or hazardous areas that require extra setup or safety precautions
Each level applies a higher labor rate and/or markup to reflect the added time, risk, and crew resources required — ensuring you stay profitable no matter how tough the install.
🧠 Why It Matters
Protects Your Profit: Stop undercharging for harder installs
Customizes Each Estimate: One-size-fits-all pricing doesn’t work — now you can treat each section appropriately
Easy to Use: Just input the feet (or strand count) for each difficulty level within that section — the app does the rest
🏠 Example:
If you’re decorating a home with:
100 ft of first-story roofline → input under Difficulty 1
60 ft of second-story peaks → input under Difficulty 2
The app will automatically charge more for the second-story footage, using your breakeven rate and markup to keep things dialed in.
📦 Pro Tip:
Most sections allow up to 4 levels of difficulty — so you can be as precise as needed, whether you’re bidding residential jobs, retail centers, or multi-story office buildings.
